Gwinnett Colleges & Institute provides students with career-focused education that gets them ready for entry-level employment and advancement opportunities.

Six campuses are spread across Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. Technical programs vary by campus and include training in the medical, business, paralegal, ultrasound, and massage therapy career areas. Paralegal

Gwinnett Colleges & Institute’s diploma and degree programs in paralegal studies provide you with the theoretical and practical knowledge and the legal skills necessary to perform many paralegal functions including research, writing, investigation, and interviewing.

In your studies, you will gain knowledge of the paralegal and legal assistant’s role in areas such as tort law, litigation, criminal law, civil law, real estate, bankruptcy, wills/trusts and estates, and domestic relations. Theoretical and practical knowledge of how a traditional legal office operates on a day-to-day basis is also included as part of the training. Those in the degree programs will also complete general educations courses that prepare them for lifelong learning.

You will learn how to:

  • Investigate the facts of a case
  • Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles
  • Organize and present information
  • Keep information related to cases or transactions in computer databases
  • Write reports to help lawyers prepare for trials
  • Draft correspondence and other documents such as contracts and mortgages
  • Get affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence in court
  • Help lawyers during trials
  • Assist attorneys prepare for hearings, trials, and corporate meetings
